Demarcus Johnson won the Golden Helmet Award

Demarcus Johnson won the Golden Helmet Award on the Vicksburg High School football team.

Johnson, who is a rising senior, had 85 tackles and 10 sacks in 2022 as he led the Gators to the third round of the playoffs with a 10-3 record. He was also the Defensive Player of the Year in 5A Region 2.

VHS will begin their season on August 25 when they face Holmes County Central in the Red Carpet Bowl.
