Denton and Ford lobby legislators to support finishing the Yazoo pumps

State Democratic Rep. Oscar Denton and Republican Rep. Kevin Ford have been lobbying fellow lawmakers at the Mississippi Capitol to join them in voicing their support for the proposed Yazoo Backwater Pumps.
They took comment postcards to Jackson this week to pass out to fellow lawmakers and staffers urging them to join the efforts to support completing the project.
Both men have been strong advocates of the pumps project. Ford has had numerous meetings with Eagle Lake and South Delta residents and leaders in hopes of finding ways to mitigate flooding issues and advocate for the farming industry.
The postcards are a grassroots effort to provide favorable comments to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for its upcoming Environmental Impact Statement to be released in October. The Corps is accepting comments through June 15.
Postcards can be found at numerous locations in the Delta, Vicksburg and Jackson area. Locations can be found here.
Comments can also be submitted directly to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and should include this heading:
