Destinee King is now the new girl’s head powerlifting coach at Warren Central High School.

Everything was made official after Thursday night’s VWSD board meeting.

“I’m excited and this is something that I’ve always spoke of so I’m ready to get to work,” King said.

King, a Vicksburg native, has been a personal trainer in the community for the last three years. She started off training by helping a female athlete who was on the powerlifting team where she went on to place third in her weight class.

King is a 2014 graduate of WC where she played basketball and was a member of the band. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in 2018 and her Master’s degree in 2023 from Alcorn State University.

King is a teacher at Warrenton Elementary and she will announce tryout dates soon for the girl’s powerlifting team.
