Detour on Cherry Street

Commuters in the heart of Vicksburg are encouraged to avoid Cherry Street Tuesday.

Construction taking place in the 1800 block of Cherry Street is restricting traffic. Crews are diverting traffic with a detour to Monroe Street.

According to Garnett Van Norman, Director of Public Works for the City of Vicksburg, a contractor is making sewage line repairs. This is the area near Carr Central Apartments and Fisher Funeral Home.

Repairs are estimated to take a couple of days to complete.

Please use caution in the area and choose another route if possible.
