Dobbs: Mississippi hospitals must delay elective surgeries

Friday, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs announced that hospitals must delay elective surgeries statewide beginning Tuesday, Dec. 15.
In a tweet, Dobbs indicated that nearly 10% of people contracting COVID-19 will be hospitalized, and that he sees many more hospitalizations on the way.
He also said that Mississippi’s ICUs are already full. Wednesday, the state had a record number of people admitted to hospitals for the virus (172), and a record number of people with confirmed cases hospitalized (1,166),
