Dog owner surrenders dog with untreated, maggot filled wounds

Animal rescuer, Dianne Gargaro recently came into the care of Ruby, a sweet-natured black lab mix who has suffered unimaginable wounds and neglect.
Gargaro is rightfully enraged by the condition in which Ruby arrived. Ruby’s owner surrendered her after also surrendering an emaciated puppy who was on the verge of death. Ruby’s back was covered in open wounds which were filled with maggots. The wounds were never treated and became infected.

In order to treat Ruby, a veterinarian will have to sedate her so that they can scrape off dead skin and remove the maggots that have impeded themselves. Ruby will then require aftercare and is in need of a foster family who can care for her until she finds a safe forever home.
The cost of Ruby’s procedure is unknown, but Gargaro has expressed that donations will be necessary to provide her with the proper treatment she needs.
Those interested in donating towards Ruby’s vet bill can contact Woodland Animal Clinic by calling 601-636-2319. The clinic is located at 4327 Rifle Range Road and will accept donations in person as well. Be sure to specify that you are donating towards Ruby’s bill if you decide to do so.
The owner of the two dogs will not be charged with animal abuse or neglect because they decided to surrender them.
