Donations needed for fifth annual Back 2 School Drive event
The fifth annual Back 2 School Drive is seeking donations of school supplies. The event is designed to help prepare youth for success by helping to ensure they have the supplies they need.
The event needs supporters to help donate cash or supplies such as back packs, folders, pencils and anything else to help start off the school year on the right foot.
Anyone willing to donate supplies or that may have questions about the event may contact the founder, Jeremi Meekins by email to simplydop3.info@gmail.com, or by calling (404) 906-1411.
The drive will be hosted at Rodney’s Store located at 1813 South Street at 5 p.m. on July 24. Parents must be present with the student in order to receive the supplies.
“In order to be effective, children must be equipped with the proper tools and resources to navigate towards success and this event has proven to do just that. The year 2020 was a difficult year for us all as we experienced a pandemic like none other. However, as we return to our new normal, we would like to place as many children as possible in the best position for a great school year,” stated the drive’s founder Jeremi Meekins in a correspondence with VDN. “Proverbs 11:25 states, ‘Whoever brings blessings will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.’ Our hope is that our efforts towards pouring into the community will enhance our very village. Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our prior sponsors, our organization was able to support over 1,000 children with school supplies in 2019. ”
