Doris Pettway “Lynn” Tart, 1933-2023

Doris Lynn Tart, 90, passed from this life on Sunday, August 20, 2023, suddenly at her home in Vicksburg, MS. She was born August 11, 1933, to James E and Maddie (Worthy) Pettway. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a firm believer in GOD. She loved to cook and have family gatherings. She enjoyed gardening and flowering. She loved all her family dearly, and wanted each of them to know they were loved deeply by her. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Milton Pettway; sister, Bobbie (Pettway) Brent; children, Charles Ray Lynn, JoAnn Lynn Hamric, and Deborah K Lynn; grandchildren, Shane Hamric and Brandy Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Susan Johnson (Howard); grandchildren, Sean Keen, Deborah Alexander, Lauren Johnson Mathes (Wesley); great-grandchildren, Ezra Hamric, Hayden Mathes, Clayton Mathes, Alexis Liggett, Hannah Keen and Kaylea Hamric; great-great-grandchildren, Cayden Humphries and Mason Liggett. All nieces and nephews were very dear to her.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Mathes, Hayden Mathes, Sean Keen, Eric Pettway, Eli Smith, Glenn Redditt, and Alan Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hampton, Mike Craft, Victor Simmons, and Jeremy Strickland.
