Douglas charged with first-degree murder and denied bail
A Rankin County judge has denied bail for DeShawn Xavien Douglas, 18, of Vicksburg, who was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Christopher Miln, 54.
Douglas has been charged with first-degree murder in the incident, which occurred Monday afternoon in Brandon, Mississippi, WLBT reports.
Miln was shot at four times following an altercation with Douglas that was caught by a neighbor on his cellphone. Miln later died of his wounds.
Douglas fled the scene, but Rankin County deputies arrested him without incident a few hours later.
Sheriff Bryan Bailey indicated the argument was a result of a property dispute.
If convicted, Douglas faces a mandatory life sentence until he reaches age 65, at which point he can be paroled.
