New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife Brittany have pledged to help the state of Louisiana fight COVID-19.

In an Instagram post, Brees announced that they will donate $5 million to the state to help fight the pandemic that has infected more than a half-million people around the world and at least 85,000 in the U.S. Louisiana is reporting more than 2,300 cases and 83 deaths.

During this tough time when many are struggling to access essential supplies, Brees and his wife are gracious enough to lend a hand.

“The priority now is helping our communities get through this tough time,” Brees wrote in his post.

He plans to help prepare and deliver over 10,000 meals a day throughout the state of Louisiana “for as long as it takes to children on meal programs, seniors, and families in need.”

Brees is a 19-year NFL veteran, who will be returning next season to lead the Saints for another year.
