Driver in roll-over accident tries to fight deputies

Shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday, Warren County emergency response personnel were dispatched to Old Jackson Road under Confederate Ave. where a vehicle was reported to have overturned.

The first deputies to arrive on scene spotted the driver walking away from the scene of the accident.  When the deputy made contact with the individual, he became combative.  Multiple units quickly arrived to provide back-up, and the driver was safely taken into custody.

The driver was quickly detained thanks to a swift response from both city and county law enforcement (photo by David Day).

“He’s been checked out by paramedics and he does not appear to be injured,” said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace. “He is going to be charged with an alcohol-related offense, traffic offenses, probably resisting arrest and some other charges.  We are not exactly sure what all he’s going to be charged with at this time.”

Pace reported that the deputy who made initial contact sustained minor injuries that were treated by paramedics on the scene.

Multiple WCSO deputies and VPD officers responded to the scene along with Fire Medic 20, Rescue, and Culkin Fire Department.
