The Eagle Lake Fire Department has a new chief as of Monday when Fire Chief Earl Wallace stepped down.

Assistant Chief Chris Libbey takes the reins as chief effective immediately. Libbey has been a member of the Department since 2013. He is retired from International Paper and resides full time at the lake. His wife Amy is also a member of the Department

Wallace first joined the department in 1996. He took over as chief from Bill Parker in 2012. Under Wallace’s leadership, the department expanded the number of fire hydrants in the district and has grown the department’s equipment base to include a brush truck, a water tanker and a rescue boat.

Wallace plans to remain involved in the department, although he and his wife have purchased property in southern Warren County. They are maintaining real estate holdings inside the Eagle Lake Fire District.
