Early morning fire and smell of smoke keeps Vicksburg firefighters busy

At 5:12 a.m. Saturday, the Vicksburg Fire Department was dispatched to 904 Bowmar Avenue.
A residence adjacent to Bowmar Avenue School sparked an emergency response. Once on the scene, Vicksburg Police reported smoke coming from the structure.
Engines 6, 7, Platform 1, Rescue, Fire Medic 40 and Battalion 1 were dispatched to the scene. Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk stated residents had begun to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived.
According to Danczyk, there was minimal damage to the structure and there were no injuries.
Moments later, around 5:41 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 105 Alfa Drive.
The call was due to a concern for the smell of smoke coming from within the residence.
Ladder 15, along with Engines 2 and 8 were deployed to respond.
Upon Ladder 15’s arrival, the Captain determined the issue to be electrical in nature and cancelled the additional response and summoned Entergy to the scene.
There was no actual fire at this location.
