Edward “Moose” Goods to remain as Sheriff of Claiborne County

Edward “Moose” Goods will remain as the Sheriff of Claiborne County after winning the primary election on Tuesday night.
Sheriff Goods received 60.75% (1,678) of the votes from last night’s unofficial numbers. Police Chief Russell Dorsey came in second with 30.85%(853), Kevin Lewis finished in third with 145 votes and Arthur Turner had 80 votes.
Goods was first elected in 2019 and has been in law enforcement for the last 27 years. He released the following statement:
Dear Citizens of Claiborne County,
My familiy and I are filled with immense gratitude as I write this letter to express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for re-electing me as your Sheriff for another term. Your support and trust in my abilities mean the world to me, and I am deeply honored to continue serving you and our community.
Your belief in my leadership and vision for a safer and stronger community have been the driving force behind our accomplishments. I am humbled by the opportunity to continue working towards our shared goals, and I promise to continue leading with dedication, integrity, and compassion.
I also want to take this moment to acknowledge the hard work and support of my team, as well as the invaluable contributions of our community partners. It is through our collective efforts that we have been able to create a safer and more prosperous environment for everyone.
As we move forward, I am committed to staying true to the values that have guided my decisions throughout my first term. Family values, community engagement, and proactive policing will remain at the forefront of our approach to law enforcement.
I will continue to be accessible and open to hearing your concerns, ideas, and feedback. Together, we can work collaboratively to address challenges, build on our progress, and make our community a place we can all be proud to call home.
