An elementary school in Lafayette County has shut down its fourth grade because of COVID-19.

The students and teachers in the fourth-grade classes at Lafayette Upper Elementary School in north Mississippi are in quarantine Monday after six of 11 teachers and one student tested positive for COVID-19, The Associated Press reports.

Adam Pugh, superintendent of the Lafayette County School District, informed the families of more than 200 students this weekend to quarantine their children for 14 days. Teachers who did not test positive were exposed to the teachers who tested positive.

Overall, the district has reported nine positive results among staff.
