The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Vicksburg Lodge #95 presented an American Flag on Oct. 31, 2019, to be flown over the mighty Mississippi River in honor of all veterans.

The tradition of flying a U.S. flag on the old Highway 80 Bridge began in 1994 with Mrs. Blanche Millsaps, a Vicksburg resident, and has been carried forward by the Army-Navy Club of Vicksburg. Every three months, the flag is changed out, with another resident or group donating or funding a new flag for the bridge.
