Employees arrested for embezzlement at Vicksburg store

Ashanti Jernae Hardin and Antoinette Renee Hyder embezzlement

Two employees of Rainbow, located at 3505 Pemberton Square Boulevard, have been arrested and charged with Felony Embezzlement following a report of merchandise theft. The Vicksburg Police Department responded to the incident on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, after the store’s Loss Prevention Manager alerted authorities to the theft.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, the loss prevention manager reported that surveillance footage provided conclusive evidence that employees Ashanti Jernae Hardin, 20, from Vicksburg, and Antoinette Renee Hyder, 34, from Port Gibson, were involved in embezzling clothing and other store merchandise. The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be $5,361.88.+

Both Hardin and Hyder were apprehended by law enforcement officials on the same day of the incident. They were subsequently charged with Felony Embezzlement.

On Friday, May 26, 2023, Hardin and Hyder appeared before Municipal Court Judge Angela Carpenter for their initial court hearing. Judge Carpenter set a bond amount of $30,000 for each defendant, emphasizing the gravity of the charges they face. Both individuals have now been bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.
