The Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg held a Change of Command ceremony yesterday, Sept. 6.

Col. Teresa Schlosser took over as the ERDC’s new commander, making her the first woman to hold the post. Col. Ivan Beckman relinquished command to Schlosser and Maj. Gen. Richard Kaiser, Deputy Chief of Engineers and Deputy Commanding General, USACE, served as the reviewing officer for the event.

Beckman is retiring after 30 years, and is reportedly pursuing his doctorate at Mississippi State University.

Schlosser joins the ERDC from the Corps’ Far East District, where she was commander since 2017. The Far East District is headquartered in Seoul, Republic of Korea and is the premier engineering, design, and construction agent for all Department of Defense agencies in the Republic of Korea.

The new ERDC commander is originally from Helena, Mont.
