According to reports, a 22-year-old inmate named Dylan Arrington, who had previously escaped from the Raymond Detention Center, was involved in a standoff with police in Leake County.

During the standoff, Arrington allegedly set a fire inside a residential property and barricaded himself inside. It was also reported that he shot a deputy during the confrontation. It is believed that Arrington died following the incident.

Further details of the incident are still emerging, and an investigation is underway.

“We’re waiting for it to burn down and do recovery,” Leake County Sheriff Randy Atkinson said.

Arrington is accused of killing a pastor in Jackson on Monday after the deceased pulled over to help him. He is one of four detainees who escaped on Sunday.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones took accountability for the escape of four inmates from the Hinds County Detention Center that occurred over the weekend. During a press conference on Monday morning, he also discussed the jail’s difficulties and staffing concerns that contributed to their escape. In addition, Jones shared updates on the ongoing investigation and provided information on the escaped inmates: Dylan Arrington, Casey Grayson, Corey Harrison and Jerry Raynes.
