Join Jordan Rushing as he shares about the Old Courthouse Museum, their research library, and what they mean for our community. Vicksburg’s history is often overshadowed by the Siege that took place here in 1863, but there is an expansive, rich, and diverse history of the civilian population that has a much more important story to tell. Listen as Rushing highlights examples of this type of history and relates it to how they present it to the public at the Museum. The Museum’s artifacts are made up of donations given by the community over the last 75 years; it’s quite eclectic in scope, and therefore tell a much more personal tale of our city.
He will also share about the expansive research library collection of materials, both primary and secondary, that have been used all across the world in personal and academic research. There are many ways these resources can be accessed by the community, and some possibilities for their use that may not seem obvious.
