Excessive heat wave warning in effect through Saturday night
An excessive wave of heat is peaking in the area Friday and Saturday, sates the National Weather Service in Jackson (NWS).
A warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday. The NWS warns of increased risks of heat related illnesses associated with the wave.
“Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities,” states the NWS.
The NWS warns of heat indexes around 110 degrees and air temperatures as high as 105 degrees.
“Extreme heat is expected with peak heat index values in excess of 110 degrees for multiple days. Heat stroke continues to be a major concern,” NWS states.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible over Saturday and Sunday night.
