Warren County Emergency Management Director John Elfer says severe weather is likely Sunday.

Weather forecasts include the threat of tornado activity along and near the Interstate 20 corridor, he said Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, rain will begin on Saturday night, and a severe weather outbreak is looking likely Sunday morning through Sunday evening. Tornadoes are likely, some of which could be strong and long tracked. Widespread damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, large hail up to golf ball size, and locally heavy rainfall are also likely with the strongest storms.

Elfer encourages everyone to be weather aware and have a means of getting information. Please continue to check the latest forecasts.
