Fatal crash in Yazoo County

A fatal crash occurred early this morning in Yazoo County.

At 5:45 a.m., the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department was advised of a vehicle crash involving a deer on US-49 near the Yazoo County High School.

Upon arriving in the area it was determined that a pedestrian had been struck by the vehicle. At that point the sheriff’s department contacted MHP. Preliminary reports indicate the pedestrian: identified as Shea E. Parker 39, of Yazoo City was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Pamela K. White 50, of Bentonia. It appears that Ms Parker was walking northbound in the right lane when she was struck by the vehicle which was also traveling northbound. Ms Parker died as a result of her injuries.

This crash is currently under investigation.
