Just before 9 a.m. Saturday, a deadly accident took place on Highway 3 in Warren County.
An individual traveling south on Highway 3 just past the southernmost entrance to International Paper failed to negotiate the turn and ended up hitting the embankment, causing the vehicle to become airborne. One eyewitness stated that the vehicle went as high as the power lines. The vehicle came down nose-first near the railroad tracks, flipped end-over-end and rolled on its side.
Despite the efforts of first responders, the individual inside the vehicle did not survive the accident.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation around the accident. More information, including the identity of the driver, will be made available once the appropriate notifications have been made.
