Fatality confirmed in Wednesday morning crash

Vicksburg Daily News has confirmed a fatality in the Wednesday morning collision at the Highway 61 and Dana road intersection.  Vicksburg native Donald Leroy Schuman was killed as a result of the incident.

In total, three vehicles were involved in the fatal crash. Schuman was driving a white 1997 Nissan Altima.

The second vehicle involved was a white 2006 Escalade which was carrying a child. Vicksburg Police Department Deputy Chief Charlie Hill stated the child did not sustain injuries. The driver of the Escalade, Tamekia Martin, escaped with minor injuries.

The third vehicle was a black 2014 Toyota Camry which was being driven by Mahren Saleh. Saleh did not sustain injuries in the crash, according to Hill.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
