Felon in custody for possessing a stolen firearm

A Vicksburg man is in custody after a traffic stop on Sunday, May 30 revealed a stolen firearm.

Ricky Lee Perkins, 22, was stopped on Halls Ferry Road near Pemberton Square Boulevard at 3:42 a.m. Sunday, when he was apprehended by officers after trying to flee on foot.  A search of his vehicle revealed a Glock 45 handgun that had been reported stolen to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Perkins appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Sunday where Judge Angela Carpenter bound him over to the Warren County grand jury on a $30,000 bond on one count of possession of a stolen firearm.  Perkins returned to court on Wednesday, June 2, where he received an additional $35,000 bond on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
