On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Tate Reeves of Mississippi announced that he had approved a bill to decriminalize fentanyl testing strips.

In a Facebook post, he expressed his belief that House Bill 722 would be beneficial in preserving lives.

“I’ve signed HB 722 which decriminalizes fentanyl testing strips,” stated Reeves on social media.

State Representative Lee Yancy presented a proposition to decriminalize the testing strips earlier this year in January, in response to demands from parents in Mississippi who were advocating for the legalization of at-home fentanyl testing strips.
