A fiery crash involving two 18-wheelers and at least two passenger vehicles has halted all traffic on Interstate 20 Thursday, just about a mile east of the site of another accident that occurred this morning.

As of 2:15 p.m., all lanes of Interstate 20 are shut down near the county line and officials expect the closure to remain in place for several hours.

Hinds and Warren County along with Vicksburg Fire personnel are battling a fire that erupted as a result of the crash.  Also on the scene are Hinds and Warren County deputies, Vicksburg Police, Emergency Management, and a Hazmat team.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation into the accident. Sgt Kervin Stewart along with multiple Troopers are on scene.

An AirCare helicopter has been requested, and will land on the roadway to transport victims with serious injuries. Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess has also been summoned to the scene.

Responders have requested additional fire apparatus for water support to combat the flames, and engines from Culkin Fire Department are en route to assist as well.

The Vicksburg Daily News will continue to monitor this developing situation and bring you more information as it becomes available.
