Fire consumes house on Nicholas
A house on Nicholas Street in Vicksburg was consumed by fire on Sunday morning.
Just after 3:15 a.m., dispatchers put out a fire call for a house on Nicholas Street. The first unit to arrive on the scene, a police unit, described the house as being fully involved in the fire.
Numerous units with the fire department headed up by Battalion 1, Tim Love, arrived at the scene to fight the fire. Chief Derrick Stamps was also observed at the fire.
Firefighters from Engine 8, Engine 2, Platform 1 and Ladder 3 along with Rescue and a fire medic unit fought the fire for over an hour. A metal roof on the home created an extra barrier to trap the heat and flames, causing the fire to reignite between the metal roof and the older asphalt roof underneath.
There are no reported injuries with this fire.
