Multiple Vicksburg Fire Department units were dispatched to Wendy’s on Clay Street at around 5:35 a.m. Friday morning.

When workers arrived to open the location they found the building full of smoke and dialed 911. They then evacuated the building.

Vicksburg Fire Ladder 3, Platform 1, Engine 2, Rescue, Fire Medic 30, along with Battalion 1(Tim Love) all responded to the alarm. Vicksburg Police also had multiple units on the scene. The issue was determined to be related to an HVAC unit located on the roof which was discharging smoke inside the structure. There were no injuries reported as the result of this incident.

It is anticipated the business will open this morning.
