Warren County firefighters pitch in to help fellow firefighter

Warren County firefighters pitched in to help a fellow firefighter who has fallen ill.

Long-time Warren County firefighter Shane Greene has been battling a sickness off and on for years and was recently hospitalized for an extended period of time. Medical professionals told his wife that when he comes home he would be in a wheelchair.

Greene’s wife, Amber, was distressed because their house isn’t wheelchair accessible but knew they would figure it out.

Amber’s friend, Tammy Hearn, reached out to a firefighter friend for help.

About a week later almost a dozen Warren County firefighters got together, bought the materials out of their own pocket, and showed up at Amber and Shane’s house.

“There is no way we will ever leave a fellow firefighter hanging,” said Fisher Ferry Fire Chief Mitch Lange.

Amber was surprised, “I want to say a huge  thank you to all the Warren County Firefighters that showed up at my house today to build us a wheelchair ramp.” They repaired part of our porch to make sure it is safe for the wheelchair also. Shane is so blessed to have y’all as brothers.”

Greene went on to say, “When you open your door to find 11 firefighters ready to take care of one of their own, without being asked, it’s a very special moment. Thank you all again.”
