First Lady Elee Reeves delivers activity books to five Mississippi schools
First Lady Elee Reeves delivered copies of her new activity book for children, “Mississippi’s Fred the Turtle,” to multiple Mississippi schools. First Lady Reeves recently announced the new initiative during a kickoff event alongside The Casey Foundation, The Hope Institute, and the Mississippi Department of Education.
Authored by First Lady Elee Reeves and illustrated by Ashley Denson, the activity book’s objective is to incorporate engaging and thought-provoking conversation critical to child development and problem-solving skills.
This first round of activity books was made possible by a grant from the Cassey Foundation. The First Lady and her team are currently working to identify additional funding sources and partnerships with the goal of placing even more activity books in the hands of students throughout the state.
As of today, approximately 350 books have been delivered to the following Mississippi schools:
- Jefferson County Upper Elementary
- Joseph L. Frazier Elementary School
- Kemper County Upper Elementary
- McLaurin Elementary School
- Susie B. West Elementary School
“I’m incredibly excited to be able to introduce Mississippi students to Fred the Turtle,” said First Lady Elee Reeves. “My hope is that these students will enjoy all the activities throughout the book while also learning valuable life lessons. I’m looking forward to seeing the impact that Fred and his journey will have on students across the state.”
