Fisher named as PCA’s boy’s basketball head coach
Casey Fisher has been named as the new Porter’s Chapel Academy head boy’s basketball coach.
“I’m very excited it’s been a good time as the girl’s coach but I’m happy to be working with some boys,” Fisher said. I coached boys before in Italy so I’m ready to get back to it now.”
PCA made the announcement this week that Fisher, who is also the girl’s basketball head coach, will take over the program. He will lead both teams this season which will begin in November.
As the head coach of the Lady Eagles, Fisher took PCA to the playoffs both years and was selected as VDN’s 2021 Girl’s Head Coach of the Year.
The boys finished with a 22-14 record and a trip to the state tournament last season under former Head Coach Walt Hallberg IV.
Over the past couple of years, Fisher has changed the image of PCA basketball by leading the Lady Eagles to new heights.
Fisher has big plans for the boy’s program as they are preparing for their season that begins in the upcoming weeks.
“We should be very competitive and we’re going to play uptempo basketball and have fun while we teach the boys the true game of basketball,” Fisher said.
Fisher has a long history of successful basketball in his playing days. He was a star basketball player at the University of Southern Mississippi where he was named to the All-Metro Freshman Team, 2nd Team All-Metro Conference, has 1,599 career points and helped the team to a NIT 1987 Championship.
Fisher will have plenty of help this season with Billy White and Cookie Johnson helping to assist with the teams.
Both the boys’ and girls’ teams have the potential to go deep in the playoffs under Fisher’s leadership which has already been proven to be a success over recent years.
