Five new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Warren County Thursday
Thursday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reports another five confirmed COVID-19 cases in Warren County, bringing the cumulative number of cases in the county to 196. The county’s death toll of 10 includes seven residents of long-term care facilities.
Wednesday night, MSDH reported the names of long-term care facilities with COVID-19 cases and deaths across the state.
In Warren County, those facilities are:
- Heritage House Nursing Center: employee cases 14; resident cases 38; resident deaths 7
- Shady Lawn Health and Rehabilitation: employee cases 1; resident cases 0; resident deaths 0
- The Bluffs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center; employee cases 2; resident cases 0; resident deaths 0
Statewide, MSDH reports 238 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases in Mississippi to 16,560.
MSDH also reports 12 Mississippians died of COVID-19 statewide, bringing the number of deaths in the state to 794.

Reported deaths Thursday include three confirmed COVID-19 related deaths between April 26 and May 26 that were identified through death certificate reports. The additional deaths are reported in the following counties:

Deaths and new cases were reported as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 3. MSDH reports new statistics on the COVID-19 coronavirus each morning based on the previous day’s testing and death reports.
MSDH has estimated the number of people who can be presumed recovered from COVID-19 in Mississippi. That number is 11,203 through Sunday, May 31. That figure represents about 67.7% of the cumulative 16,560 cases reported as of Thursday, June 3. This figure will be updated weekly.
Based on the number of cases reported Thursday, May 14, in Warren County (127), the estimated number of people presumed recovered is 117, with 69 active cases.
These estimates are based on MSDH’s guidelines for calculating estimated recoveries when hospitalizations are not known, using the number of cases 21 days ago, less known outcomes (deaths).
As of Wednesday, 435 Mississippians were hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and another 173 patients are hospitalized with suspected infections. Of those hospitalized with confirmed infections, 143 are critically ill and in intensive care units and 96 are on ventilators. Hospitalizations were not updated Thursday as of this writing.
