A Sunday afternoon shooting in the town of Edwards, which saw five people wounded, one of which was a toddler, has resulted in two arrests, including one in Warren County.

The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. Sunday at the Sandstone Apartments on Wallace Drive in Edwards, Police Chief Terrence Crump told WLBT.

Three of the victims arrived at Merit Health River Region, prompting the hospital to be placed on lockdown and numerous Warren County Sheriff’s personnel to be on hand for several hours as a precautionary measure.

A region-wide law enforcement broadcast was issued for the suspected shooter around 7 p.m. Sunday. Jaylein Wallace was taken into custody by Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, Investigator Zach Primeaux, and others on Monday afternoon.

He was subsequently turned over to Edwards Police. He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

According to WLBT, Wallace was given a $100,000 bond. The other shooter faces charges once he is released from the hospital.

Our numerous attempts to reach Chief Crump have gone unanswered as of this writing.
