The nine-member commission in charge of selecting a new design for the Mississippi state flag have whittled down the 1,800 designs submitted to 147.

You can view the designs selected in round two of the process here.

In round three, the commissioners will select five finalists, and then further narrow the selection to one. The finalists selected in round three will be open for public comments for a brief period, to be announced later.

The final selection will be presented to Mississippi voters on the Nov. 3 general election ballot for a straight up or down vote. If voters reject the design, the commission goes back to the drawing board to repeat the process for a 2021 vote.

This year, the commission meets again Aug. 14, Aug. 25 and Sept. 2, when they will present the final, winning design to the state Legislature.
