Flaggs proposes raising city wages again

Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr. announced in a tweet Thursday that he would be raising the minimum wage in Vicksburg again.
“I’m always reminded of the verse my Sunday school teacher taught me growing up in Vicksburg, ‘Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me.’ And that’s my I’m raising the minimum wage in Vicksburg – AGAIN – without raising TAXES,” Flaggs wrote.
Workers not employed with the city shouldn’t get too excited. It’s likely Flaggs was only talking about Vicksburg’s city employees, who received raises last year from 3 percent to 5 percent.
Flagg’s latest announcement comes almost one year to the day of last year’s raises.
