Flash flood warning for Hinds County
The National Weather Service in Jackson has announced a flash flood warning for Hinds and Madison counties until 8 p.m.
The NWS advised that “At 5:02 p.m., CST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.”
A flash flood warning means that there will be flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.
If you come upon a flooded roadway, turn around. Don’t drown. Most flood deaths occur in a vehicle.
