Flashes fall to Cathedral in close games

St. Aloysius boy’s basketball team took a 48-46 loss in the final seconds against Cathedral.

The Flashes was up 10-8 in the first quarter after Ahmad Stewart and Anthony McCloud nailed some shots. By halftime, St. Al had a 22-18 lead Will Keen got hot at the free throw line.

As Korey Simms hit a 3-pointer in the third, the game continued to go back and forth while Carson Henderson and Carson Gleese both hit a shot along with Keen.

In the final quarter of play the game remained tight but Cathedral was able to take the lead as Stewart knocked down a 3-pointer which resulted in the Flashes only losing by two.

The Flashes was led by Keen who scored 13 points followed by Stewart who put up 11. Henderson and Simms both added six on the night while McCloud finished with five and Carter Henderson put up three.

Girl’s Game:

The Lady Flashes took a 42-29 loss to Cathedral. McKenzie Cole led with 10 points and Maddy McSherry added six. Emily Cook scored four points and Falyn Lusby put up five and Madi Matthews contributed three.

The Flashes will play again on Saturday at Greenville Christian at 2:00 p.m.
