Flashes pull off an overtime win over PCA

In a crazy overtime game between St. Aloysius and Porter’s Chapel Academy, the Flashes pulled off a close 64-61 win.

From start to finish, the game was hectic with both teams scoring back to back all night long. The Flashes led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter.

It didn’t take long for PCA to get back into the game due to Chris Taylor and Nic Williams getting to the basket easily to help the Eagles regain the lead and go up 30-27 at halftime.

Coming out of halftime, Padre Gray Jr. hit continued to go full speed down the court to layup the ball while Lazaveon Sylvester went hard in the paint throughout the night.

The Flashes trailed early in the third quarter until hit a three which made the score 44-42 until Taylor responded for PCA with a three of his own to earn respect.

By the end of the fourth quarter, the game was still undecided as things were tied at 53 and went into overtime.

Things remained tight in overtime and PCA looked to have things secured, especially when a big layup by Tyler Washington and a assist by Willie Rogers gave the Eagles a three point lead. Gray soon marched down the court for a huge three to bring the game back to a tie at 60.

Sylvester and Ahmad Stewart were able to get layups that helped put the Flashes ahead that resulted in the 64-61 win.

Gray finished with 20 points on the night and Sylvester had a team high of 22 and Carter Magee had five.

Taylor led PCA with 25 points and Williams had 17 on the night while Rogers led with 14 rebounds and Lawson Selby added 13 points.

The game definitely kept the crowd on their toes all night and both teams performed well.

“It feels good to say we can pull off something like that because we been working hard throughout the summer and school year and I’m really proud of myself and even more proud of the team because of how we played,” Gray said.
