Flashes tied with East Rankin and fell short against Central Hinds in Thursday’s scrimmage

St. Aloysius football team played in a scrimmage on Thursday night and with East Rankin Academy but fell short against Central Hinds 8-0.

First Game:

The Flashes had a hard time moving the football against Central Hinds but managed to get a 20-yard pass from Carson Smith to Thompson Fortenberry late in the game.

Offside penalties on defense were critical to the Flashes. Central Hinds was able to score one touchdown before time expired.

Will and Thomas Dowe were able to contain the offense by coming in and grabbing some key tackles while the secondary secured three pass deflections

The scrimmage lasted only twenty minutes before time expired.

Game two:

Both St. Al and East Rankin remained scoreless in their final game of play.

Defensively, the Flashes remained strong with Jax Oglesby coming up with a big sack and John David Liggett getting a pass deflection.

Thomas and Will Dowe stepped up again with several tackles for loss while freshman Pierson Smith and Robert Lee grabbed a few tackles.

Offensively, Liggett, Fortenberry and Ahmad Stewart had big plays along with Smith who took the snaps. Damien Reeves also broke out for a big run along with Stewart.

The Flashes will start their regular season on Aug. 19, hosting Park Place Academy.
