Donation items are pouring in for this coming Saturday’s MS Delta Backwater Flood Relief event in Rolling Fork.
The event, which features a plate lunch of pulled pork, chicken or ribs, kicks off at 11 a.m., Sept. 14, at the Rolling Fork National Guard Armory at 19719 U.S. Highway 61 in Rolling Fork. Hot dogs will also be available for the little ones, plus a sweet dessert option.
There will also be a live auction starting at 2 p.m. and a silent auction throughout. Car decals will also be available.
One-of-a-kind T-shirts are available through online ordering with a limited number of T-shirts available during the event. Also, if you pre-purchased a T-shirt, you can pick it up there. You an also order a T-shirt at the event.
Plans are underway for live entertainment, with the performers to be announced later this week and there will be a military flyover at noon. Several community leaders have also been invited, so look for a surprise guest or two.
“Come out and see us!” said event organizer Victoria Darden.
Among the good people donating auction items are 601 Sports, Paparazzi Jewelry, NAPA in Vicksburg and Tchula, Home Depot of Vicksburg, Blossom Gas, Dixon Drone Photography, Gary Walters prints. 82 Outlet of Indianola and many more.
All proceeds go to the United Way of West Central Mississippi benefitting Sharkey, Issaquena, Warren and Yazoo counties. All proceeds, 100 percent, will go directly to aid flood victims.
Cost for the plate lunch is $11. Purchase tickets at the event or at the following locations in Rolling Fork: Bank of Anguilla, Farm Bureau, Rollin’ Nutrition, JB Hatch Salon, Green Apple and Charles Weissinger’s Law Office. In Vicksburg, buy tickets at Patriot Motorsports, the United Way, The Squealing Pig, Merle Norman and 601 Sports.
