FloodFest 2019
Tommy Parker has announced FloodFest 2019.
Here is his press release, in his own words, on the event:
It is my pleasure and privilege to announce that “Floodfest 2019” will be held on August 17th, 2019 at Redwood Elementary School, 100 Redwood Road, Redwood, Mississippi 39156. Gates will open at 5:30 pm for an evening of entertainment. Admission is only $5.00! (We are leaving you money to spend throughout the night)
Our headliner and Co-host for the evening will be Warren County’s own William Michael Morgan. Michael has graciously agreed to donate his time to come home and help his friends in the Mississippi Delta during this Natural Disaster. We would like to thank his management team of Mike Taliaferro and Joe Carter at Mike and Joe Entertainment for allowing Michael the opportunity to join us for this event.
We would like to thank Buddy Wooten, Margie Heltzel, and the staff at Redwood for their assistance in making this event a reality. Special thanks to Superintendent Chad Shealy, Assistant Superintendent David Campbell and the entire administrative staff of the Vicksburg-Warren School District. It was important for us to bring this event to the world from Redwood given the impact the flood has had on the staff and students.
A special thanks to Ronnie Andrews and staff at Vicksburg Insurance for working with us to make sure our insurance requirements are met. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my Attorney: Mackenzie Coulter-Carter at Crews-Grady PLLC for all her assistance.
Scott Randall Rhodes and the Mississippi River Band are appearing courtesy of Shirley Waring and the Vicksburg Blues Society. They are about to embark on a European Tour during the month of July. We are still putting other entertainers together for the evening and will be announcing those in the coming days.
We are gathering items for a raffle-style drawing. Scott Peavey has generously donated several pieces of handcrafted furniture that will be included in this drawing, which will be held during this telethon. Tickets are being sold at Levee Street Marketplace. They are $20.00 each. Please contact Mary Landers at Levee Street if you have items you would like to donate for this portion of the event.
Waterview Casino has already signed on as a presenting sponsor of this event. We welcome all who would like to participate at any level. Please contact me for more information.
We will be having food trucks, games for the kids, and much more! This is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event. There will be a heavy law enforcement presence for everyone’s safety.
Finally, all proceeds from this event will be donated to the United Way of West Central Mississippi to be used for flood relief in the counties that they serve. They have formed a committee for this purpose which is chaired by John Elfer and Dr. Walter Frazier. I have every confidence that these funds will reach those who truly need them.
I look forward to working with the community to make this a memorable event.
