Football season begins next month in the River City
VICKSBURG, Miss. (Vicksburg Daily News) – Football season in the River City is quickly approaching for Porter’s Chapel Academy, St. Aloysius, Vicksburg and Warren Central High Schools.
VHS, PCA, and WC are all returning their head coaches from the 2020 season while the Flashes are under the new leadership of Bubba Nettles.
Blake Purvis will be going into his sixth season as head coach for the Eagles. The team will open up their season against Kemper Academy on August 20. PCA is returning multiple starters from last season who are expected to have a heavy impact on the team.
The Vikings will be led by 12-year veteran head coach Josh Morgan who is currently preparing the team to take on Forrest Hill High School on August 27 at the Red Carpet Bowl. WC has had much success in the past under Morgan and this year shouldn’t be any different with their roster being full of determined athletes.
Todd McDaniel will go into his second season with the Gators after leading the team to a first round playoff appearance in 2020. His young team has seemed to master the Wing-T offense to go along with their fascinating defense. This has become the strength of the team as they prepare to defeat Germantown at the Red Carpet Bowl.
Nettles is looking to make his mark as a first year coach while preparing the Flashes to take on Park Place Christian Academy on August 20. Most of last year’s starters are returning, which has clearly motivated the team to strive for a winning season starting next month.
Each team is currently under strong enough leadership for the upcoming season and will be looking to pull off huge wins. Fans have patiently waited for the season to kick off once again in Vicksburg.
