Former Alcorn basketball coach lands assistant coaching job at UT Martin

Former Alcorn State University head basketball coach Montez Robinson has been hired as an assistant coach at the a University of Tennessee at Martin.

Robinson, who spent five years as the Braves head coach, joined the UT Martin staff last week .

Robinson was the 2016-2017 SWAC Coach of the Year after leading the Braves to a 18-14 record. He has been credited for turning around the Braves basketball program during his time as head coach. In March 2020, ASU announced that they would not be renewing his contract but he has now found a new home with UT Martin.

UT Martin finished last season with a 9-20 record but adding Robinson to the staff could help turn the program around just as he did for the Braves.
