Former Hinds County Sheriff Victor Mason succumbs to cancer
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Gresham Stewart has confirmed to WLBT’s Howard Ballou that former Hinds County Sheriff Victor Mason, 64, passed away Friday night at around 8 p.m. at his home.
Mason has courageously battled prostate cancer for the last three years. Prior to being elected Sheriff he served with both the Jackson Police Department and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office under the late Malcolm McMillan. He was named the Metro Areas Top Cop in 2000.
