Former Hinds track & field athlete Morrie Turner named assistant coach at the University of South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C.
 – Former Hinds Track & Field star Morrie Turner is joining the University of South Carolina Track & Field coaching staff and will focus on the 400-meter sprints, relays, and will oversee the intermediate hurdles.

While at Hinds Community College, Turner reached NJCAA All-America status three times and was honored twice as a NJCAA Academic All-American. After Hinds, he moved on to Mississippi State University and then went to Oral Roberts University.

After graduation, he became an assistant coach at Hinds CC, Rogers State University, Coffeyville CC, Alabama State University, and now at SEC powerhouse University of South Carolina.

Turner earned his Associates of Arts from Hinds Community College, later earning his Bachelors in Recreation Administration from Oral Roberts and wrapped up his education with a Masters in Sports Administration from Concordia University-Irvine.
