Former JSU president pleads not guilty

The former president of Jackson State University pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges stemming from a February arrest.

William Bynum Jr. is charged with procuring the services of a prostitute, false statement of identity and possession of marijuana. He was swept up in a Clinton, Miss., sting operation in early February along with 16 others, including a Vicksburg man.

Bynum resigned from JSU Feb. 10, the Monday after his arrest. His trial has been scheduled for July 8.
