Former MLB player Burks to host a free camp on Tuesday for boys and girls


Former Major League baseball player Ellis Burks will host a camp for girls and boys on Tuesday at the Fuzzy Johnson Park.
Burks, who was born in Vicksburg, has graciously agreed to throw a free camp for those who are in between the ages of 5 and 14. The camp will start at 5:30 p.m. Participants are asked to bring all of their athletic gear upon arrival including gloves and bats.
Burks spent several years in the Majors playing for the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, and the San Francisco Giants. He has hit a total of 352 homeruns in his career along with 2,107 hits.
After 18 seasons, Ellis retired and is now a New England Sports Network studio analyst.
