Former Ole Miss Rebel Jordan Ta’amu led the way for the XFL league’s St. Louis BattleHawks as they won 15-9 against the Dallas Renegade on Sunday.

The BattleHawks were a 9.5-point underdog before the game but they managed to pull off the victory. It was the inaugural game for both teams in the fledgling league.

Ta’amu finished the game going 20 of 27 passes, 209 passing yards, one touchdown, and 77 rushing yards.

Before joining the XFL, Ta’amu was a star quarterback at Ole Miss where he shined as a Rebel.  He transferred to Ole Miss in 2017 from New Mexico Military Institute. In his first season as a Rebel, Ta’amu was the backup quarterback but started the last five games.

In his 2018 senior season, Ta’amu became the starting quarterback. He threw for 3,918 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Ta’amu is now the starting quarterback for the BattleHawks, and former Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is his backup.
